Under 12 Football Claughaun 3-1 Monaleen 4-3
Under 12 Football
Claughaun 3-1 Monaleen 4-3
The Under 12's had a good run out on their first game of the
2012 season with a trip to neighbours Claughaun and a good standard
of football was displayed by both teams. The Monaleen defence
was under constant pressure for the first 10 minutes, but they
held firm with Paul Power at full back and Cillian Toland in goal
limiting the damage. As the game entered the second quarter Monaleen
half backs and midfield got the upper hand and forced the play
for much of the rest of the game to be played down in the attacking
half of the field. Fionn O'Muiri was excellent at half back clearing
the ball downfield where Jack Canny, Conor Coughlan and Cathal
McCarthy dominated possession, setting up the attacking chances,
where Tom Ryan and William Campbell were busy converting the scores.
The whole team played well, and the rest of the season beckons
for these players to improve and enjoy their football.
Training at the moment is transitioning from inddor/astro facilities
back to the main pitch.
Involvement in Monaleen GAA is fantastic fun and a great opportunity
for young people to play team sports. Beginners are welcome throughout
all the age groups.
Many of the younger groups trained indoors over the winterm while due to some pitch maintenance, the older groups could not use the main pitch from mid-October.
These groups had to find alternative training facilities in order to keep the activities going. The current trainig times and venues are as below, but it is planned
to get all groups back on the main pitch for training at the end of February.
