some great scores late in the half to lead by 10 pts at half time. Monaleen

Under Fourteen Football County League Champions
On a dull and cloudy afternoon, which had a very real feel of Autumn our
footballers took to the field to try to retain the title which we won
last year. Newcastle west were favorites coming into this game as they
had already beaten us in the Feile final. From the throw in our forwards
worked very hard and put huge pressure on the Newcastle defense. Oisin
Kelly at center forward created massive opportunity with his huge work
rate throughout the game and our forwards took every opportunity with
the chances created. Cian Hession showed us how to take advantage of good
supply and scored two great goals in the first half. Further scores were
added by Mark O'Dwyer which gave us a six point advantage at the break.
From the beginning of the second half Newcastle West attacked with a vengeance
and our back had to show some serious resilience to withstand the pressure.
We finally conceded a goal mid way through the half but from there on
we began to regain control through staunch defending, especially from
Eoin Whittle and Niall O Shea. Our forwards retained some great ball to
take the pressure off in the latter part of the game with the tireless
running of Mark O'Dwyer ,Evan O'Connor and Conor Fleming. Many thanks
must go to every player on the panel who contributed a huge amount throughout
the season, as and we have two matches yet to play in the championship.

Under 13 football County Champions
On Sunday the thirteenth of |Sept we took to the field in what was always
going to be a hugely contested match between ourselves and Mungret. The
first half was nip and tuck until Dara O Leary spotted an opportunity
to place a sweet pass into the hands of D.Hession who finished neatly
to the back of the net.
Immediately Mungret responded with increased pressure to close the gap
which was equally matched with some superb football from Eoghan Carew
and Niall Loughran Mungret scored on half time to leave the tightest of
margins of one point at half time. The second half started with the same
frantic pace as the first and we tagged on a point from Mark O'Dwyer to
go two ahead, only for Mungret to reply with a good goal to see them lead
for the first time. From a well placed kick out the ball was well worked
up the field to D.O'Leary who fed the ball to the waiting Dara Nevillle,
who was menacing throughout the game, slotted home to the back of the
net to regain the lead. Our Backs continued to do heroic work marshaled
by Daniel Enright to hold out for well deserved victory .
This panel of 25 players have to be complimented on the effort made by
ever one of them and all players contributed hugely during a long season.
