Senior Notes
MONALEEN FAMILY FUN DAY THIS SUNDAY 26th JUNE
The fun Day begins with a parade of the Feile team from Monaleen School
to the GAA grounds @ 1.30 behind Limerick CBS Pipe band. Blessing of the
event by Fr. Dan Neenan and official opening by Peter Clohessy. Events
planned for the day include: Huge Dog Show, Wheel of Fortune, Cake Sale,
Art Competition, Face Painting, Tennis Tournament, Tug of War, Barbeque,
Penalty Shoot Out, Bouncing Castle, Bronco Bill, Animal Farm, Crazy Golf,
Giant Slide, Scout Exhibition, outside Stand Holders, evening entertainment
in bar with the famous Willie Bun from the premier county etc etc
Any unwanted household items, books, tapes, CD s ,records etc. please
drop to club after 8pm any evening. There will be a bake sale. We are
asking for your help with this! So if anyone would like to bake something,
could you please bring it up to the club on Sunday morning after 11AM!
Your support would be very much appreciated!
Admission is free. All invited including all from outside the parish for
what promises to be a hugely enjoyable event.
Intermediate hurlers played Caherline in the second round of the championship
in Mungret on Friday night. It was a very hard fought game with Monaleen
leading by 5 pts at half time. Caherline threw everything at Monaleen
in the second half but great performances from our backs especially Mark
Cummins, John Bartley and Finbarr Nash kept them at bay evetually winning
by 6 points, 0-19 to 1-10. Shane Mullane, Damien Cosgrave, Denis Foley
and Luke Murphy played well for us. Ger Collins was man of the match with
8 points all from play.
Junior B Hurlers played in the city final V Crecora in ST Patricks on
Saturday night we lost to a very strong Crecora team by 5points. Good
performances from Darrell Smith, Pa Ryan,and Dermot Foley this team can
look forward to the championship with high hopes of doing well..
Senior footballers playing in the Championship on Friday night in Caherconlish
V Pallasgreen at 7:30pm.
Monaleen GAA Club Golf Classic in Ballykisteen Thursday June 30th and
Friday 1st of July. Teams of 3, contact Tom Crosse on 087 2547717 for

Juvenile Notes
For the first time ever , Monaleen played in the A City schools camogie
final on thurs 9th June against Mungret in the Gaelic grounds, having
completed a 100% record in the group stages. They emulated the boys who
won their final ,when captain Aisling Doyle lifted the cup after winning
on a scoreline of Monaleen 3.02 to mungret 0.00.
Monaleen opted to play with the breeze in the first half and got the perfect
start with an early goal from Robyn Mc Donnell which was followed by points
from Aisling Doyle and another goal just before halftime from Claire Kelly.
Some sterling defending from Jane Clohessy ,Taine Amadeo, Grace Donovan
,Cliodhna Mc Carthy and Shalini Kujur and Niamh Holmes in goals kept Mungret
scoreless and Monaleen wrapped up the title with a second goal from Claire
Kelly.

Our U12 footballers continued their recent form with a fine win over a
determined Galbally side last Thursday nite in the clubhouse pitch. Galbally
started brightly and goaled within the first minute. This seemed to galvanise
Monaleen , whoplaying against the wind, dominated for the rest of the
first half. Darragh McCrann,again playing a fantastic game as the target
man, goaled to bring the sides level and further scores from Shane Donegan,
Cathal Carew and Conor Nicholas, ensured Monaleen had a comfortable lead
at half time. The second half saw furtherscores from Alex ODonoghue,
Shane Donegan and Eoin OShea whichcontributed to a fine Monaleen
scorelineagainst a gallant Galbally side. Impressive for the hosts were
Cathal Quilter, Conall McAteer, Philip Harty and Sam Burns.

Camogie U12
Monaleen hosted an U12 blitz on Saturday 18th with a great turnout from
four clubs and over 70 players participating. Ahane,Cappamore, Murroe-Boher
and Monaleen each fielded two teams. Small sided go-games were played
consecutively on four pitches keeping everyone busy. There was great skill
and determination on display from all teams, and parents and coaches were
treated to some great contests in what turned out to be a very enjoyable
event. Many thanks to all the parents who helped out on the day and especially
to our sponsor Tuscany Bistro for supplying the food. The girls play their
final blitz of the season in Ballybrown on Thursday.
U6 Hurlers played their first ever Match recently when they travelled
out to Tipperary to Play Ballina. On a beautiful sunny evening we had
a Very large turnout of both Players, Family and Friends to witness a
significant 1st step in all these young players Hurling development.
The games were played in a wonderful sporting manner with no quarter asked
or Given by both teams and an enjoyable night was had by all. Monaleen
ended up drawing 2 Matches and being narrowly defeated in the third game.
If these games are an indicator then the future of Monaleen Hurling is
Bright.
Ballina were most Gracious hosts on the night and of which one of their
mentors was former Monaleen player Ken OConnell.

Mathew Fitzgerald, Niall O Shea, Adam Keating, Will Mulcahy, Luke Hession,
Seanie OHea.
U10 Community games Final. Our U10 contested a great final with Abbeyfeale
last Wednesday night in Mungret and were narrowly defeated by 1.04 to
2.04. Monaleen were ahead at the break by 1.03 to 0.01 after some great
scores from play. In the second hand Abbeyfeale came on strong and got
a goal in the last few minutes to push ahead. A great spirited performance
and well done to the team and their coaches. Best to luck to Abbeyfeale
in the Munster competition.
