Juvenile Notes
U15 Hurling Final goes to a replay - Monaleen and Na Piarsaigh competed
in trying conditions in the County U 15 Hurling final last weekend , and
after a very close contest, which was level at half time and at full time
, must now look forward to meeting each other all over again .
Monaleen started very brightly and went into an early lead when after
an opening point by Ed Doyle , Colm O Kane followed up with a shot to
the top corner for the games opening goal.
A fantastic stop from Monaleen goalie Shane Doyle kept Monaleen ahead
,after which the teams exchanged a number of points with a Na Piarsaigh
goal shortly before half time leaving the score at 1.06 to 1.06 at the
break.
Monaleen shaded most of the second half to lead by 2 points at the stroke
of full time , when Na Piarsaigh struck for what looked like the winning
goal. However , this Monaleen team are made of great character , and after
some tenacious battling which led to a great solo run from John Nicholas
and he offloaded to Ed Doyle who struck the equalising point , which was
a fair result for two evenly balanced teams.Final score Monaleen 1.11
Na Piarsaigh 2.08.
Monaleen were well served by all on the day , with the defence well marshalled
by Lorcan Lyons , Reiss Connolly and Cian O Brien , and scorers were Colm
O Kane 1.00, Ed Doyle 0.06 , John Nicholas 0.03, Andrew La Touche Cosgrave
0.02, and Jamie Porter 0.01. Team Shane Doyle , Thomas Holmes, Lorcan

U11 Camogie Champions
The camogie success continued for Monaleen with victory in the A
U11 final played in Monaleen on Sunday. Patrickswell proved to be tough
opposition but could not prevent Monaleen scoring 5-1 in the first half.
Fantastic scores from Kerry O Donoghue & Emma Donohoe set the trend.
With Patrickswell struggling to pass the Monaleen half back line where
Katie Golden was dominant there was only going to be one winner. Ruth
Heavey & Aisling Kennedy got the other scores in the first half but
this was a team performance with Monaleen winning every line on the field.
With all the 20 member squad getting a run the second half was very competitive
but the score didnt change and Monaleen finished deserved winners.
Aine Nelligan lifted the trophy on behalf of a jubilant Monaleen panel.

strongly from the first whistle and some well taken points by Conor Nicholas,

up a commanding lead for the hosts in the first half. Solid defending
