Senior Notes
LOTTO Numbers for last week were 10,21,26,29 with no winner. Next week
jackpot will reach €18,400.
Lucky dip winners were J.O.Dwyer Bloomfield, D Kearney Glanntan, H.Phillips
Carrigeen, M.Leahy Thornfield.
Well done to our Senior footballers who had a great win against Fr Caseys
in the county semi-final in Kilmallock on Saturday. We played some great
football in the first half with a Ger Collins goal helping us to a three
point lead. In the second half Fr.Caseys quickly drew back level but our
lads inspired by Barry Fitzpatrick and Ritchie Murray eventually ran our
winners on a scoreline of 1-10 to 8 points. Others to impress for Monaleen
were Donal O' Sullivan, Jack Hoare, Ger Collins, Jason O'Brien and Seamus
Hickey. We now play Newcastlewest in the final on October 16th in the
Gaelic grounds.
Our Junior hurlers play Mungret in the city final in Claughaun next Saturday
at 4:45pm. Best of luck to all involved all support welcome..
Our U21's had a great win in the City championship last week. It was the
teams first win on a number of seasons with a strong panels of players
coming through from minor level and last years under sixteen county champions.
Juvenile Notes
U16 Camogie Championship Final
Monaleen 4-1 Blackrock 3-3
Monaleen U16s were crowned county C champions on Friday in Ballybricken.
In what proved to be a close hard fought game Monaleen with the help of
the strong breeze were 9 points ahead at half time. The goals had come
from Caoimhe Lyons, Eileen Russell and Aine Hegarty. Favourites Blackrock
were under pressure the match was far from over. An early goal from Caoimhe
Lyons increased the lead but with 10 minutes to go a Blackrock goal brought
the advantage down to 1 point. From there the Monaleen girls finished
strongly to hold out for a great 1 point win. Congratulations to all the
girls, a great achievement for the club in their first year playing at
U16 level.

Autumn League
The U11 girls scored a 3-1 to 0-0 victory away to Ahane in the first round
of the Autumn League on Sunday. Goals from Aine Doyle, Kerri Donoghue
and Aishling Kennedy (1-1) topped off a very strong performance throughout
the team. The U13s fought a great battle with Ahane on the same day, but
were unable to match the younger girls losing out in the end. Both ages
will be playing Cappamore in Monaleen next Sunday.
U8 Blitz
Monaleen held an indoor blitz in Caherconlish on Saturday. Monaleen had
wins over Mungret and Crecora plus a draw with Na Piarsaigh. Well done
to all the u8 girls.
Our Ladies footballers U14's travelled to Kilmacud Crokes last week to
participate in the All Ireland 7s. They performed well but were
knocked out in the group stage by Sarsfields, the Cup Semi Finalists.
The girls at various ages have a busy two weeks starting with the u 12
on Saturday 1st play in the St Patricks Blitz., 16s play Novice
semi final On Sunday 2nd, u13's play invitation blitz in Monaleen on Saturday
8th .
The Ladies Football and Camogie Clubs are organising a joint fund raiser
collecting clean used cloths or discarded mobile phones on Saturday 8th
October please drop off to the clubhouse or contact either committee and
we will organise collection.
We have a growing number of younger players and need mentors for these
age groups. For anyone interested in helping please contact Ray O' Dell
or Finbarr Cremin.
Monaleen U9 Hurlers have a match against Ahane in Ahane this Wednesday
night at 6.20pm.
