Our Under 12 hurlers registered a fine win against our local rivals by a scoreline of 5-1 to 3-1 last Thursday night in Ahane. Monaleen dominated the first half, played with the benefit of a strong wind and some fine performances from Ian Campbell, Conor Nicholas  and Conor Bermingham. Goals from Conor Nicholas, Sean O’Kane and Harry Gleeson gave Monaleen a lead of 3-0 to 1-0 at half time. Playing into a strong wind in the second half Monaleen came under pressure, but some superb hurling by our back line led by David Moloney and an inspirational display in goals by Philip Harty kept the home team at bay. Further goals by Sean O’Kane and a fine contribution of 1-1 by Cathal Carew extended Monaleen’s lead. Not to be undone, Ahane contributed two fine individual goals to narrow the gap as fulltime approached, but Monaleen held on for a deserved win in a keenly fought encounter.
