This was the first night of a new era for underage gaelic games in Limerick under the "Lifting the Treaty" programme, which
is the new initiative from the County Board to develop hurling and football in Limerick. A series of Under 8 Hurling blitzes
under the "Go Games" rules were held throughout the county, with Monaleen being the host venue for this blitz with
Na Piarsaigh and St. Patrick's. The team is pictured below :

Jason Aylward had a great game for Monaleen, sweeping up the St. Patrick's attacks, while James Flannery and Eoin Twomey were superb in the attack. Hugh Corrigan was very skilful in midfield and was a constant threat to St. Patrick's.Monaleen2 1-0 Na Piarsaigh 1-4At the same time, Monaleen's Team 2 were putting in a brave display against Na Piarsaigh, and despite outstanding midfield energy from David McMahon and Michael O'Hanrahan, the team ended up losing this encounter to a very sharp Na Piarsaigh team. Jack Considine soon added a number of points and was a constant threat to St.Patrick's defence. Muiris Bowler was busy firing in some fine long range shots from midfield. After the half time break, St. Patrick's flooded forward and were rewarded with 2 goals, and it was all smiles as the game ended, every player from all clubs needing a well earned drink and a rest!Team 1: Caolan Dignam, Claudio Lopes, Conor Deegan, Eoin Twomey, Hugh Corrigan, James Flannery, Jason Aylward, Paul Ross Team 2: Caolan Madden, David McMahon, Jack Considine, Mark Harty, Micheál O'Hanrahan, Muiris Bowler, Niall McGrath
